Eli

OK. Like I promised (threatened), here are the current stars of the show, I’ll try to make this shorter. I’ll share some Eli photos first and we’ll do Earl’s later.

Eli technically belongs to Melody; but he is a strong and independant soul. We met when I moved into my apartment next to the Wild Honey. I liked to refer to him as the unofficial mayor of Old Town Homer. He would sit out front of the cafe and occasionally browse the neighborhood for snacks.

He had a favorite seat when the Cafe wasn’t too crowded.

We were instant buds.

We would go to the beach often where he could obsess on the ball.

He would fixate on the ball, ignoring all else.

As he has aged, his body often extracts a toll but he is still our “King of the North”

Melody tried dressing him up for a “Pajama Day” at the cafe. I’m pretty sure he never forgave her for the most embarrassing time in his life.

Unless it was that Christmas sweater she made him ware one year.

He remains the undisputed champion at destroying ANY ball, stick or toy. This was an ordinary tennis ball in just a few minutes. He takes a little longer to shred the tougher ones but even the Kong super strong eventually succumb.

He doesn’t like it when the snow cascades off the roof to crash onto the deck at home. He often gets to have a sleepover at our house when it gets too much for him in the spring.

Eli is not a lap dog. So, he fits in just fine on the couch.

Gonna post this and then work on the posting for Earl.

Stay low and be safe out there.

About

So far I've reached acceptable proficiency at the following, in chronological order: Silversmith, infantryman/door gunner, helicopter pilot, fireman, carpenter, residential contractor, FAA Air Traffic Control Specialist and crotchety old retired guy. Currently, I'm learning to fly again and that is what this is all about. 7/7/2020 edit: As I have had the opportunity to reflect (old people do that a lot) on my actual proficiency level at the above occupations, I feel adjustments are in order. The term "acceptable" depends on the observer, their own proficiency and experience level. Acceptable to me might be woefully deficient to the master. I think it would be more accurate to claim that I have earned a living wage at all of these occupations but never got rich. Actually, I feel that I have gotten rich at the last one. I have what I need and am profoundly grateful for all of it. The future looks bright indeed, as I have learned to fly again. For that I have all of you to thank. Thank You!
