Backbones and Heads
Bill and I got a couple of nice halibut so we had a fish fry to make room in the freezer.
He had enough backbones and heads to feed about a dozen people with leftovers. There was enough food for a small army.
The next day I was off to Seward to meet up with the Sodens (both the Denver and Fairbanks Sodens). We went to the Alaska Sealife Center of course and saw all our favorite birds and fishes.
Then a quick trip to Exit Glacier and then load the grand kids, Mom and Grandma onto the train for the trip to Anchorage.
There were lots of trees down in the riverbed.
The glacier is still in retreat mode.
The train had four observation cars up front but, since they just made the reservations a few days ago, they were eight cars back. I’m sure they still got to see plenty. They make everyone share the observation cars.
Dad and Grandpa Larry drove back to meet them in Anchorage while I drove back to Homer.
Reds start in earnest soon; tomorrow I’ll be setting up camp in Soldotna.
Looks like rain; perfect!
