I’ve Been Adopted

Meet Madonna

I promise that I will not be constantly harassing you with photos of the latest precious shenanigans of my new roommate.

So far she is a bit camera shy, so that should not be a problem. I got her free at the local shelter because the lady that was adopting her had to back out but offered to pay for all her processing. I was soon to learn that a kitty needs lots of accessories that are not included. There are numerous toy mice, a ball in a ring, feathers on a fishing rod, several unused scratching devices (turns out she doesn’t need them, the couch and bed mattress do just fine), litter processing tools and a carrier in case we ever need to go somewhere.

It took her a week to check out the tree. I had to put the oat grass (yes, I bought grass so she doesn’t have to go outside to eat grass) on the top to get her to try it. Now she is starting to enjoy the perch at our only suitable window.

I still really want a dog but that will have to wait for more suitable digs.

Stay Warm and happy holidays.

About

So far I've reached acceptable proficiency at the following, in chronological order: Silversmith, infantryman/door gunner, helicopter pilot, fireman, carpenter, residential contractor, FAA Air Traffic Control Specialist and crotchety old retired guy. Currently, I'm learning to fly again and that is what this is all about. 7/7/2020 edit: As I have had the opportunity to reflect (old people do that a lot) on my actual proficiency level at the above occupations, I feel adjustments are in order. The term "acceptable" depends on the observer, their own proficiency and experience level. Acceptable to me might be woefully deficient to the master. I think it would be more accurate to claim that I have earned a living wage at all of these occupations but never got rich. Actually, I feel that I have gotten rich at the last one. I have what I need and am profoundly grateful for all of it. The future looks bright indeed, as I have learned to fly again. For that I have all of you to thank. Thank You!
